How does the committee structure work at AKAMUN?

AKAMUN features several committees based on real United Nations bodies and thematic issues under the conference theme. Each delegate is assigned to a committee and a country or role. Committees engage in debates, draft resolutions, and negotiate solutions on global topics.

What skills will I develop by participating?

Participants improve public speaking, negotiation, leadership, research, and teamwork skills. AKAMUN’s diplomatic setting fosters critical thinking and a better understanding of international relations and global challenges.

Is previous MUN experience necessary to join AKAMUN?

No prior experience is required. New delegates receive guidance and resources, and the conference environment is supportive for learning and growth. Experienced delegates will find challenging topics and opportunities for advanced diplomacy and resolution writing.

What should I prepare before the conference?

Delegates should research their assigned country’s foreign policy, the committee topics, and current global events related to the theme “Shaping Peace – Diplomacy in a Conflict-Ridden World.” Understanding MUN rules and procedures will also help, and preparatory sessions or materials may be provided upon acceptance.

Are there any special events or social activities?

Yes, AKAMUN includes social events to foster networking and community building. These are optional and usually require participants to be 16 years or older with valid ID. The social events provide a chance to relax and connect beyond formal sessions.

How does AKAMUN handle delegate conduct and rules?

AKAMUN expects delegates to adhere to the Code of Conduct promoting respect, professionalism, and constructive debate. Rules of procedure follow traditional MUN formats, focusing on diplomacy and respectful negotiations.

What happens if I can’t attend after registering?

Delegate fees must be paid by the deadline to secure a spot. If circumstances change, contact the AKAMUN Secretariat promptly to inquire about possible refunds or deferrals, though these are subject to the conference’s cancellation and refund policies.
